Mission over ego. When the mission is bigger than any one person, there is no room for pride, personal agendas, or the need for recognition. The work comes first. Ego asks, “Who gets the credit?” Mission asks, “Did we make a difference?” Ego divides people into camps. Mission brings people together around a common purpose. Ego is easily offended. Mission stays focused, even through criticism and setbacks. If we’re truly committed to changing lives, protecting children, serving our communities, or standing for what is right, then our personal feelings have to take a back seat. We won’t always agree, and we won’t always get our way. But if we keep the mission at the center, we can accomplish far more together than any one of us ever could alone. Stay humble. Stay teachable. Stay focused. The mission matters more than our pride, our title, or our desire to be seen. When the mission wins, everyone wins.
